Montana offers a diverse array of big game hunting opportunities, from majestic elk to elusive wolves. At Bob Marshall Wilderness Outfitters, we guide you through the process of securing tags and prepare you for an unforgettable hunting experience in the heart of the wild. Each hunt is an opportunity to connect with nature and challenge your skills. Explore the specific hunting options available and learn how we can help you plan your perfect hunt.
In state elk tags can be purchased online or over the counter.
Out of state elk tags are drawn based off preference points. By applying for elk tags through an outfitter, you will earn an extra preference point and add to your chances of being drawn. Contact us to learn more about preference points, group draws, and other rules and regulations.
Black Bear are common and may be hunted as the primary species or in conjunction with our Elk/Deer hunts. Black bear licenses are available online or over the counter.
**Spring bear hunts also available**
NOTE: Hunters must take and pass a bear identification test before purchasing a black bear hunting license. There are two ways to take the test and receive your certification:
1) ONLINE at Montana Fish Wildlife & Park’s website at fwp.mt.gov and search ’Bear ID Test’
2) MAIL IN – Request a mail-in test by calling 406-444-2535
Mule deer and whitetail deer both frequent the "Bob". We typically encourage a deer combo tag to be purchased in conjunction with an elk or bear tag.
Wolf hunting is generally opportunistic as we focus on elk, bear, bear and deer in this outfit. If you are at all interested in harvesting a wolf though, we encourage you to buy a wolf tag to carry in conjunction with another hunt you are on. We often times hear wolves from hunting camp and see plenty of sign of them throughout the year.
Mountain goat hunts are by special permit lottery draw only. There is a good sized herd we see each year not far from camp, so if you have any interest in a mountain goat hunt we encourage you to apply!
Apply by May 1 to:
Mountain Goat Hunting District 133.
Moose hunts are by special permit lottery draw only.
Apply by March 31 to:
Moose Hunting District 150
